I AM THE HOLY SPIRIT. The Spirit is seen from the beginning as present at creation in Genesis 1.2, “the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters”, like a bird watching over its nest, and then God speaks and the process continues. The Psalmist conjoins these ideas of spirit and word when he describes the creation in these terms - So when God spoke, the Spirit acted. God is seen to be at work through His divine breath (in hebrew the word ‘ruach' means spirit, breath or wind ).
